Cabin #3 - "Tamarack"
Named after a type of pine tree found in the Northern United States and Canada, this one is similarly named to it's sister cabin. With the largest enclosed porch, this 2 bedroom, 490 sq ft cabin becomes a great gathering place.
This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the early 1930's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and air conditioning wasn’t even thought of at that time. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.
All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.
This cabin is 490 sq ft and sleeps a family of 6 utilizing 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and a futon in the living room. There's a kitchen with everything to cover your basic needs, a dinning space and a simple bathroom that includes a warm shower. The spacious 18’x7’ enclosed porch overlooking the lake is the perfect spot for an evening card game with friends.
Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.

Great little cabin!
The cabin as rustic and next to a beautiful lake. Loved the location and the nice view each morning. Would stay here again.
Accurate description and pictures. Host was very nice and gave recommendations on where to eat. Cabins are close together, but there was only one other cabin occupied and it was a couple units down from mine.
Ritchie was just amazing. Very nice man. Big recommendation for anyone considering visiting Mackinaw City or surrounding places.
the cabin was in a great location, we got to see sunrise on the lake!
the place was clean, and heating worked well. ritchie was a responsive host, which made communication easy.
Great stay!
we really couldn't have asked for a better experience, somewhat rustic cabin just feet from a huge lake, all the local amenities you could ask for. by the 2nd night we were talking about how we needed to come back again. The beautiful views of the lake from the porch and the wonderful sunrises in the morning we will be back for sure.
Such an amazing view to wake up to, and the host is very nice and accommodating!
Nice rustic cabin, but had the amenities that were needed. Watching the sunrise over the lake was amazing.
Was a beautiful location, close to Mackinaw City and a beautiful scenery to wake up to
This little log cabin was so sweet and cozy with a fabulous location on a lovely large lake. It had what we needed (even more than Ritchie listed). We so enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening. Understand this is a humble little place, sort of shabby chic, so don't expect fancy but if you love nature and being out in it this is a great spot and the host is very cordial. We will stay again without a doubt.
Loved the Lakeside Cabins!! Beautiful area, great amenities, everything we needed for an Up North relaxing weekend. Highly recommend and would love to visit again sometime!
Great location, just 20 feet from the lakeshore. Cabin charming but lacking a bit in amenities.
Personal and friendly greeting upon arrival.
10 steps to waters edge!! Cute and cozy. A general store and diner were in walking distance.
This is an older cottage, carpet and amenities (shower) reflect its age, so if you’re into nostalgia and don’t expect The Ritz, you’re going to love it! Cabin #3 had Good WiFi signal and allowed us to get some work done.
We will definitely come back!
Loved staying at this cabin. Right on the lake, quiet and relaxing! Located close to many attractions if you want to explore. We enjoyed our time here.
Nice cabins easy parking
My friends and I had a great time at Ritchie’s cabin. It was a perfect stay during our 3 day trip up north.
The location was just what we were looking for. The lake was nice, sat most of the time around the fire ring chatting and fishing. We would love to go back again.
The owner is kind and response fast. Great experience.
Great place to stay!! Right on Carp Lake as the ad says. We sat out on the screen porch area in the evening and morning enjoying out coffee! Definitely a do over!
great little cabin on the water!
Lakeview Cabin is great getaway place for friends. The place is very beautiful with a awesome lake and great restaurants near by. The cabin is little older, but well maintained. The host, Ritchie stays nearby and communication is super.
awesome place with a beautiful sunroom facing the lake.
We had a wonderful stay at cabin #3. Ritchie greeted us upon arrival and was a great host! The Airbnb is a great location with being close to Mackinac. Cabin was quite cozy and the lake was so beautiful and peaceful.
Great place to stay! Ritchie is a great host! There’s kayak and canoe rentals to enjoy the lake.
Beautiful cabin with one of the best sunrise I have ever seen. It's a perfect place to stay if you want to go to Mackinac island or Mackinaw city.
I would recommend this place to anyone. peaceful and relaxing place to stay.
Thanks Ritchie. You are a great host.
Definitely rustic. Great location with beautiful lake views. No privacy at all. There’s wasn’t even anywhere to walk our dogs. Cabins are super close. Inside was clean enough. Holes in the floor and walls and mildew on bathroom walls. Bring paper towels! Something I needed and didn’t have.
I chose one of Ritchie's cabins because I needed a weekend away, and I am so thankful I did! The cabins are even better than the photos, and so close to the lake. The view of the lake out of the windows were dreamy and wonderful! The kitchen was pretty well stocked with pots, pans, utensils and other necessities which was nice. The beds were comfy, and I brought my own blankets for extra-coziness. Ritchie was so patient with my arrival time as I was slowed down by heavy rain quite a bit. I stayed in the cabin with my dog most of the weekend, so I can't really review the surrounding areas (not sure of hikes, etc.) but I highly suggest this cabin for a quite weekend away from life!
I would recommend staying at this location to anyone. Very peaceful.
Enjoyed my stay, cabin was cozy and just as described by the host. Quick response and greeted upon check in. Also a good value for the money. Enjoyed the lakefront sunrise and swimming ducks.
Breathtaking views, super comfortable, easy check in!
Ritchie is very friendly & attentive, accommodated our every need. The cabin is very nice & you have a beautiful view of the lake right behind the cabin. Definitely will be booking again!
Such a great location! Ritchie was very friendly and helpful. Our stay was very enjoyable!
My fiancé and I stay in cabin #3 once a year. We absolutely love it!!! We have the most relaxing and fun stay. Ritchie is a wonderful host as well.
I stayed here on my travel back from the UP. It’s right outside of Mackinaw City so you can avoid the heavy tourist crowds, but are still close enough to explore. The campfire spot is dreamy and you can hear the water hitting the shore right outside the windows at night! The host Ritchie was readily available and welcoming!
Great place and amazing host! the cabin is beautiful with access to the lake and a camp fire place! very cozy and very accessible host.
Great quiet place, it has the necessities, however bring your own coffee, spices and snacks while location is only 15 minutes from mackinaw city the nearest store is also in mackinaw city so be prepared for that. Every thing was slightly better than expected. I would stay here again! And recommend.
Location is great.
Great northern cabins! Makes me think of my Grandparents Cabin. Very good value for the price
The cabin was exactly what we were looking for. Richie was a great host; very prompt with communication. The location was great base point for all the site seeing around the area. Waterfront sunrise and moonrise over the lake were incredible.
The view was fantastic, the cabin was clean, it was very quiet even though they are all very close together. We would stay again!
The lake view is great. The host is always available. Thanks!
Great location and clean. Has everything you need to get started and the owner is around if you should need anything. Definitely recommend and would love to come again!

Very rustic cabins that reminded me of cabins from my childhood summers on lakes in northern MN: lakeside breezes on the screened porch, picnic table right on the lake. Very pleasant, friendly host. Our cabin (#3) was very roomy for the two of us (my daughter and myself). We spent part of a day kayaking in Ritchie’s boats—very convenient. Meals at Harbor Lights Grill were wonderful for food and the lake view. We found a lot to do in the area: berry picking on nearby farms, 4th of July fireworks in Macinaw City, a day on Macinac Island, hikes on the upper peninsula.
There’s nothing to complain about. The cabin and setting are beautiful. Truly ideal. However, if you’re looking for a quiet getaway and some alone time with the family, know that these cabins are really close together- just about the width of a car. We had heavy smokers in the cabin next door and could hear every cough, well into the wee hours. With the windows open, which is a summertime must, it got old quickly. In the evening, we roasted marshmallows in the firepit, but could easily overhear (and be overheard) the conversations of our neighbors and at one point had to ask the neighbor to reel in their child who had invited herself into our family time. If you’re going to meet new people, this is a perfect location. We had hoped for a little more quiet and privacy. Again- the place is great and I have 5 stars for everything. It’s just something I wish I had considered before hand.
Nice cabin!
Place was easy to find, comfy and had all the necessities we needed for a cabin night. Right on the lake plus the fenced patio in the back makes it easy to enjoy the outside without the annoying bugs. Ritchie also had a variety of rentals and items to purchase if needed, like firewood, kayaks, a cool paddle swan thing. If we ever find ourselves in the UP again will for sure check out this spot again for sure!
Million-dollar view from the porch! Great spot from which to explore the surrounding area.
Quaint cabin on the lake. Had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable.
Screened in porch was my favorite spot to watch the sunrise with a cup of coffee.
Ritchie’s cabin is a wonderful little place right on the lake. The place was clean and perfect for our needs and the screened it porch was a great feature.
Perfect!
Stayed 2 nights for a fishing trip and the cabin was exactly as advertised!
Very nice place, the Cabin #3 has easily accessible lake shore, and it’s really beautiful when you light the campfire and sit by the lake at night. Amazing cabin with all the things you would expect.
Will visit again for sure.
Cute cabins on the lake. Host was friendly.Beds were comfortable and clean.
Will be booking again in the future.
Ritchie was an excellent host! The cabin was adorable and the view was beautiful. He had everything we needed...and some things we forgot. We would absolutely stay again. Thanks, Ritchie!
Great spot to get away, nice view and pleasant interactions with landlord. Very cost efficient and enjoyed ever second of it.
Ritchie was awesome! We truly enjoyed staying at his very cozy & comfortable cabins. Highly recommend this place!
Right on the water. Just minutes from mackinaw city. Dog friendly.
The cabin was perfect for us as the youngest child is 4 and he could play in the lake since it is pretty shallow. All your basic amenities are there and you are only 10 minutes drive to Mackinac City. We would definitely come back- highly recommended.
Very Nice.
The cabin was vary nice and clean. we were very comfortable. It is ideal for a family with young children as the lake is very shallow for several feet, and it is right outside the screened in porch. Richie, the owner was very helpful if you have any problems. we plan on going back for return visit.
The cabin despite its size is very cozy and welcoming, my friends and I all had a good time. There were some plumbing issues, but that can always be fixed. Ritchie was very kind to us and made sure we had all the blankets we needed and was very helpful with giving information about the town. The places he recommended were top notch. 🙂
Very Nice Cabin. We would book again.
Nice lakefront rustic cabin. Enjoyed fire on lakefront every night. Nice docks and rowboat was cool. Very helpful having owner onsite during day. Firewood available onsite. Overall have to give it an A+, Thanks for a great place to stay , Ritchie. See ya again soon.
